Microsoft Teams

What Microsoft Teams is for

Microsoft Teams is a business communication and collaboration app from Microsoft Corporation. It brings workplace chat, group conversations, online meetings, and shared files into one app. It suits organisations, project groups, schools, and other teams that need conversations and work materials kept together rather than spread across separate services.

How it is used

Teams can be used for one-to-one messages, group discussions, and organised conversations around a team or project. Users can move from chat to a meeting, share documents, and keep related messages in the same workspace. Its connection with Microsoft 365 makes it most useful for people already working with Microsoft services and files.

• Chat: Send direct messages and take part in group conversations.
• Meetings: Join online calls from the same workspace used for messages.
• Team spaces: Keep project or organisation discussions grouped by subject.
• File sharing: Exchange work documents alongside the conversations that explain them.

Who should consider it

This is a better fit for structured work than for casual messaging. It can help distributed teams coordinate ongoing projects, give organisations a shared communication point, and support users who already depend on Microsoft 365. The broad set of workspaces and conversations may feel heavier than a simple messaging app, especially for people who only need occasional calls or file sharing.
